There are numerous opportunities available on the 6-month, paid Highways England Returner Programme.  Starting in September 2018, the programme is aimed at experienced professionals wishing to return to work, who've had a career break of two years or more. 

About the Programme

The Highways England Returners Programme "Bridging the Gap" is a programme aimed at experienced professionals who have taken a career break of two or more years and are looking to build their career again. Working within one of their business areas, there are a range of opportunities available where you will gain some great experience. Future opportunities with Highways England are also a real possibility, whether that is permanently or on an interim basis – all of the returners from the last programme secured further opportunities with Highways England.During the programme you will have a supportive line manager and a mentor, as well as coaching from a specialist external organisation, to ensure you have all you need to be successful in a business that is in a period of growth.Highways England recognises that sometimes it’s not easy to be in a full-time 9-5 position and therefore they are open to a range of flexible working options.
